NZCT Chamber Music Contest - 2023 Chamber Season Highlights
This past weekend was an inspiring celebration of chamber music at the Wellington District round of the Chamber Music New Zealand Contest. It was a privilege to hear so many young musicians perform with commitment, sensitivity, and a strong sense of ensemble - a reminder of the depth of talent and dedication within our musical community.
I am incredibly proud of our studio ensembles for the focus, teamwork, and musical integrity they brought to the stage. Each group demonstrated thoughtful preparation and a genuine engagement with the collaborative process that lies at the heart of chamber music.

This ensemble impressed with their musical maturity, ensemble cohesion, and expressive performances. Their dedication, careful preparation, and strong sense of collaboration were evident throughout, earning them the honor of representing the district at the National Finals.

This ensemble delivered a polished and engaging performance, demonstrating clarity, musical sensitivity, and confident ensemble playing. Their preparation and teamwork shone on stage, earning them recognition as district finalists.

This group captured the attention of the adjudicators with their distinctive interpretations and lively ensemble energy. Their musicality, precision, and expressiveness were celebrated with the adjudicator’s award.

Best Newcomer Award

Making a remarkable debut, this ensemble displayed enthusiasm, focus, and impressive ensemble awareness. Their fresh musicality and dedication earned them the well-deserved Best Newcomer Award.
